Flexr is a mobile application wholly owned and operated by 542 Ventures, LLC ("Flexr," "we," "our," or "us") designed to help youth athletes create profiles and joyfully encourage one another through safe, structured interactions.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use Flexr.
By using Flexr, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who Flexr Is For
Flexr is intended for:
- Youth Athletes
- Parents and legal guardians of athletes younger than 13
Flexr complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable privacy laws.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate Flexr.
A. Account & Identifiers
We collect:
- Email address
- Account ID
- Player ID
- Account role (athlete or guardian)
- Push notification tokens (if enabled)
B. Athlete Profile Information
If you create an athlete profile, we may collect and display:
- First and last name (for non-Flexr, unauthenticated users, only last initial is displayed)
- Graduation year
- State (and optional city)
- Sport
- Sport position(s)
- Teams, events, results, stats, and awards
- Profile photo
- Public video links (YouTube, Vimeo, or HUDL only)
- Hype song selection (Apple Music preview only)
Flexr does not host video content or collect full music libraries.
C. Age & Date of Birth
- Date of birth is collected to determine eligibility and compliance.
- For children under 13, date of birth is stored only after verifiable parental consent is approved.
- Before consent, we store only minimal temporary information required to complete consent.
D. Flexes (Compliments)
When users send or receive flexes, we collect:
- The selected predefined compliment prompt
- Receiving player ID
- Sending player ID (which will be anonymized if the sender deletes their account)
- Timestamp
Flexes do not allow free-text messages.
E. Usage & Analytics Data
- Authenticated app users: Limited profile view data (such as viewer state) is stored to provide in-app analytics.
- Anonymous web visitors: We do not store personal data in our database. Anonymous traffic to public landing pages is measured using standard web analytics tools.
Flexr does not use data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
F. Device & Diagnostic Information
We may collect:
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Crash logs and error diagnostics
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and display athlete profiles
- Enable QR code sharing and in-app interactions
- Deliver flexes and notifications
- Provide analytics to athletes
- Maintain security, safety, and moderation
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal information.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Flexr is designed to be safe for children.
Children Under 13
- Children under 13 cannot use Flexr until verifiable parental consent is obtained.
- Consent is verified using a small authorization charge. This is handled securely via Stripe. We do not store credit card information thereafter.
- We do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary.
- A parent or guardian may revoke consent at any time.
Guardians
Guardian accounts:
- Are view-only
- May manage consent or request deletion of a child's account
- Cannot edit profiles, send flexes, or interact as athletes
5. Sharing of Information
We share information only:
- With other users, based on profile visibility settings
- With service providers that help operate Flexr (e.g., hosting, notifications, analytics)
- When required by law or to protect safety and integrity
We do not share personal information for advertising purposes.
6. Data Retention
- Authenticated profile view data is retained for up to 180 days, then deleted.
- Aggregated analytics may be retained without identifying individuals.
- Consent records are retained as required by law.
- Accounts and associated data may be deleted upon request. This is self-serviceable from within the app.
7. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your role, you may:
- View and update your profile information
- Control profile visibility
- Opt out of push notifications
- Permanently delete your account and data
Parental Rights
Parents and guardians may:
- Review their child's information
- Revoke consent
- Permanently delete their child's account and data
8. Third-Party Services
Flexr integrates with:
- Apple Music (search and 30-second preview only, explicit content filtered)
- YouTube, Vimeo, and HUDL (public user-provided links only)
- Shopify (for merchandise purchases; orders are processed on Shopify's platform)
- Stripe (for payment processing of parental consent verifications)
- Resend (for email delivery)
- Expo (for push notifications)
- Google Analytics (for anonymous web traffic measurement only; not used in the app)
Use of these services is subject to their own privacy policies.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect user data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
